Where is your Ghost?
04:00
|
|||
A body without a funeral, parting without a goodbye
No-one knew about us two, no-one told me you were going to die
In the middle of a mass disaster, so much personal tragedy
You said you never knew if I needed you - right now I need you close to me.
We once had a talk about dying. You laughed and said it would be fine
if you met your end, you’d just return again and haunt me til the end of time.
You never were a disappointment, you’re letting me down now I need you the most
The only thing I need is you haunting me. Tell me baby, where is your ghost?
The candles that I light never flicker, there’s no slamming of an open door
I put a cup on the ledge, pull it close to the edge but it never smashes to the floor
I’m longing for an apparition - the shape of a figure when I wake up at night
A voice in my ear or a sense that you’re near and everything will work out alright
We once had a talk about dying. You never took it seriously
said if even if you died you’d remain by my side forever be there haunting me.
You never were a disappointment, you’re letting me down now I need you the most
The only thing I need is you haunting me . Tell me baby, where is your ghost?
We once had a talk about dying. You said "focus on living, instead".
I only felt alive when you were by my side.
What use is living now that you are dead?
You never were a disappointment, you’re letting me down now I need you the most
The only thing I need is you haunting me. Tell me baby, where is your ghost?
You never were a disappointment you’re letting me down now I need you the most
The only thing I need is you haunting me. Tell me baby, where is your ghost?

The Level of the Sea
02:59
|
|||
You had time to get ready but it caught you unaware
You say it could not be predicted but all the warning signs were there
There’s a crack in the bedroom ceiling, there’s a drip where the rain gets in
But it’s been like that since you remember so it doesn’t mean anything
When you build the flood defences, build for the level of the sea
Don’t think about how high it’s been before but how high it could possibly be
You were born to be celebrated, you succeed in everything you do
There‘s no reason to be careful when nothing bad is going to happen to you
There’s a crack in the bedroom ceiling, you might check it when you have a chance
But it is not the time when the weather’s fine and your friends want to drink and dance
When you build the flood defences, build for the level of the sea
Don’t think about how high it’s been before but how high it could possibly be
Now you’re up to your neck in water, looking around for someone to blame
Whatever you do, it’s never you and this is going to be the same
When you build the flood defences, build for the level of the sea
Don’t think about how high it’s been before but how high it could possibly be

Now that I've finally seen the future. It looks a lot like yesterday
With more designs, a few more options, pink, gold and lime, white, black and grey
They made a film about Spike Island, so that your friends who were never there
Can buy their own misty-eyed nostalgia for an era they'll never share
Now that I've finally seen the future and I don't think it was built to last
I want a future that excites and invites me, I miss the futures of the past
The only time I saw a jetpack, it was in a cartoon with flying cars
A high speed train to reach Birmingham when
once we thought we could reach the stars.
Now that I've finally seen the future, it's a worst case scenario
So much for hopes of utopia, well, where did the better future go?
A billion pounds for my new invention, a slightly different type of phone
Oh, what I'd build if it were not for profit. Where did the better future go?
Where did the better future go?
